JULY 26 Saturday 2-woman scramble, 9 AM Shotgun Start (Open to all)
Once again the Queen Tournament Committee is fired up to make the 2008 tourney the best ever!! The cornerstone of the tournament is the major sponsorship of the National Bank of Delaware County (NBDC) which graciously agreed to continue this tradition established three years ago by NBS. Our “Save the Date” cards have been mailed to last year’s participants and the flyer will be available at the first SWGA meeting. Just remember to get your entries in early ---DEADLINE this year is July 17. For additional information contact: Frances Archibald 607-538-1156 (archny@dmcom.net) or Yolanda Trappenburg 607-652-9094 (pinpilot55@aol.com) or Joyce Jaret 607-538-1049 Nyjaret@starband.net
Inter-County League is an individual competition. Member clubs are Stamford, Cobleskill, Sacandaga, Canajoharie, Newport and Nick Stoner (which is host for Championship, scheduled for Aug 7). Bev Hartwell has been elected VP on the administrative committee for the league. The Stamford women will host the first event on Wed, June 18. All other tournaments are held on Thursdays. Participants travel to member golf courses and there is no minimum number of participants required for each event. However, in order to play in the championship round, each player must have played at least two times prior. Play is individual and handicapped and greens fees/cart rentals are charged at each event. Schedule, along with information sheet is posted in locker room. Questions: Contact Frances Archibald 607-538-1156.
Tuesday evenings at 4:45 pm each week.

For further information contact: Mary Sherwood 607-652-7413

Women members sign up in the Pro Shop in May. Format is match play. Winner of each match advances to the next level. Finals are August 23-24. Sponsored by Stamford Golf Club.
The 2007 Bulletin committee did a great job by redesigning and maintaining the bulletin board in the woman’s locker room and the bulletin board immediately outside the locker room in the hallway. Thanks to all who worked hard on improving the Women’s locker room décor last year.
The committee is now excited to make more improvements to the women’s locker room and bulletin boards in 2008. Be sure to check the board regularly for notices of opportunities for going to tournaments at other clubs (with sign up sheets; Tuesday League schedules and results; information about SWGA meetings, and other news. The Board also has a Ringer Board chart for your participation (put in your first score of the season and then pencil in better scores on holes throughout the rest of the season to see how you improve); put your Birdies and Eagles on the trees etc. The committee with thanks is: Joyce Jaret, Frances Archibald, Helen Gorlach, and Carol Dibble. Others are welcomed to join in as well.
In 2007 SWGA contributed to the Stamford Golf Club in a number of ways including donating to the driveway project, providing hanging baskets of flowers for the porch (tended by Yolanda and Kees Trappenburgh); and providing chairs for the porch.
In 2007 many women volunteered to maintain and beautify a selected tee box. They put in flowers/or pots, watered them and saw that the tee boxes were kept neat and clean. There were many favorable comments by the membership and hopefully all women will want to do this again in summer 2008. A list will be posted in the locker room asking members to sign up to “adopt a tee box” and help maintain it. Each of us can help in this way to make our golf course even more beautiful. We hope all will want to do this again this year and many thanks to all who helped out last year.
Projects projected for 2008 include replacing some of the bushes in front of the porch, placing plaques on the porch chairs, beautifying the Memorial Garden between the 16th and 17th halls, planting a tree in honor of past president Julie Ackerman (with a plaque) and holding a new women member recognition event.
