Jr. Golf Updates -- 5/30/2010
To all participants, parents & guardians:
The start of our 2010 program is fast approaching, here are some updates:
Club Fitting
All those needing to borrow clubs from us will have an opportunity to be fitted for clubs and pick them up for immediate use on the following two days:
Saturday June 5, 2010 from 9:00 AM till 1:00 PM
Saturday June 12, 2010 from 9:00 AM till 1:00 PM

Kick-off meeting for all !!!
We have scheduled an informal get-together at the Stamford Golf Club on Sunday afternoon starting at 3:00 PM for all interested participants, parents & guardians. The objective of this meeting is to give you all an outline of the mechanics of our program and to convey to all what our expectations are. It will also be an opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have regarding the program and to convey to us what your expectations are. For all of you who are new to the program it would probably be a real good idea to participate.
2010 Groupings
In the table below, you will find a listing the 2010 Groupings. For the first time ever the youngest contingent is the largest group this year, as a result we have had to move a few of what would ordinarily be 3-holers into the 6-holer group. I'll go into more detail about this during our get-together but we have effectively created a 6-holer A group (older and stronger) and a 6-holer B group (younger and smaller). We will not expect our 6-holer B group to complete all the stuff we expect from our 6-holer A group. (It doesn't matter as long as we are all having fun). That's it for now.

2010 Junior Golf Program
As promised at the end of last season we will be posting the 2010 application on the golf club website (Stamfordgolfclub.com) on the morning of March 1, 2010 (we will not accept any applications prior to that date). As in the past registration will be on a first come first served basis (the first 78 paid applications will have a spot in the program).
The age limits will be the same as last year, the
minimum age will be 5 years old before July 1, 2010 the maximum age
will be not over 18 by July 1, 2010. The fee this year is also
unchanged at $ 20.00 per youngster for the entire program. The
Tuesday morning format will be the same as last year, the youngsters
will be assigned to one of three groups: 9-Holers, 6-Holers and
3-Holers. The dates for the Tuesday morning sessions are as follows:
June 29, July 6, 13, 20 and 27. The parent/junior golf tournament is
scheduled for Sunday August 1, 2010. The schedule for the 5 Tuesday
sessions is as follows: 8:00 AM sharp Instruction starts for all 9-Holers
followed by 9 holes of golf.
The expected minimum participation is at least 3 out of 5 sessions.
The dates for the Elite 8 group are as follows: June 26, July 10, 17, 24 and 31. This group will meet on Saturday afternoons at a time which will be posted separately.
As in the past golf clubs will be available for any youngster who needs them, we will announce club fitting days as we get a little closer to the start of the season. We strongly urge all juniors who need to borrow clubs from us to take advantage of the club fitting days prior to the start of the clinics; this will greatly reduce the usual chaos during the first day of clinics.
We are all looking forward to another excellent season and look forward to seeing you on the golf course.
