Stamford Golf Club Junior Golf, Inc. is proud to announce the 2008 Junior Golf Program. It is a very comprehensive program that will maximize the learning experience, yet keep the game simple and fun! The club is eager to introduce the game to young people. It is a game that lasts a lifetime and Juniors are the future of the game!

The package being offered is scheduled for weekly clinics and golf starting July 1st. The program will run once per week, on Tuesdays for five weeks. On the fifth week there will be championships at all levels for both boys and girls. The final event will be Sunday, Aug 3, 2008. That event will be in the form of a Parent (adult)/ Junior Tournament. The day’s winners and season winners will be recognized after this last event during a season ending banquet to be held at the club. The program FEE is $20.00.

Thanks to the Jack Nicklaus Golf Equip Co. the program has over 70 sets of clubs of various lengths for the juniors use. They must be returned at the end of the season.

The age juniors will be starting is age 5 going thru 17 for both boys and girls. Each group will play a certain number of holes each week depending on ability. There are built in incentives to advance within the program. For example, we will want 3 Holers to move up to 6 Holers and 6 Holers to move up to 9 Holers. Written exams will be a part of moving up, as well as one’s ability to strike the ball, and all must learn the proper etiquette of the game. Included in the program is an incentive for parents to play golf with their children (extra points are awarded). Point winners will receive awards at the above-mentioned banquet.

The committee ranges from 10 – 13 people. We had 50 Juniors in the program in 2004. There were 70 in 2005, 2006 & 2007. 2008 again, will be limited to 70 juniors. NEW - Each Junior will be required to attend a minimum of 3 clinic days.

We have two major sponsors in 2008. Both are repeating; Jesup & Lamont and Gaeta Development Co. The presidents of both these fine companies graduated from Stamford Central and played their early golf here at Stamford Golf Club. In addition there are charitable contributions being made.
