Stamford Junior Golf, Inc. is pleased to announce its plans for the upcoming 2013 golf season.  This summer will mark the 10th year that Stamford Junior Golf, Inc. will sponsor activities and events that have introduced hundreds of area children to the lifetime sport of golf.

The 2013 Stamford Junior Golf program will begin with a week-long Junior Golf Clinic on Monday through Friday June 24th-28th, 2013 at the Stamford Golf Club on Taylor Road in Stamford, NY.  The five day program will include four days of small group instruction under the direction of PGA Golf Professional, Jim Schouller on Monday through Thursday, followed by a Mini-Tournament on Friday.

The four day instructional clinic, which is open to area children ages 11-17, will focus on basic swing fundamentals, chipping and putting, as well as basic rules and etiquette of the game.  Following the instruction from 9 am to 11 am, participants will have the opportunity to play on the course from 11 am till 1 pm in a variety of team and individual formats.  On Friday, June 28th, a Mini-Tournament will be held for all clinic participants with prizes awarded to boys and girls in varying age groups.

Program participants who do not have golf clubs will be provided with a set of clubs to use for the entire golf season and will receive special discount rates for season-long play at the Stamford Golf Club. 

The cost of the Junior Golf Program is $40.00.  Applications will be accepted beginning March 1st through May 1st and the program will be limited to 40 participants.

The 2013 Stamford Junior Golf Program will continue during the month of July with a series of four Junior Tournaments to be held at area golf clubs on Sunday afternoons.  The tournament series will be open to all junior golfers ages 11-17 who attend local schools.  The locations and times of these contests will be announced at a later date.  Entry fees for each tournament are anticipated to be $20 - $25.00 per event, which will include greens fees, prizes and lunch.  Participants of the Stamford Junior Program will receive a discounted entry fee for each tournament.

Stamford Junior Golf, Inc. also provides golf equipment and instruction enabling local school districts to offer a two week Physical Education unit on golf as a part of their P.E. curriculum.  In addition, Stamford Junior Golf, Inc. presents the Lou Gaeta Scholarship Award each year in the amount of $500.00 to a deserving area student who has participated in the Junior Golf Program and has been a member of their High School Golf Team.  The award is in memory of Lou Gaeta, one of the founding members of the Stamford Junior Golf, Inc. Board of Directors.  Stamford Junior Golf is funded in part, by the Robinson-Broadhurst Foundation and the O'Connor Foundation.
